Greetings! The Barony of Caer Anterth Mawr is a local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism Inc., an international, not-for-profit educational organization devoted to the study and recreation pre-seventeenth century European and Middle Eastern Cultures. As members, we endeavor to recapture the ambiance of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and also to rekindle the lost ideals of chivalry, courtesy, honor and graciousness. We study medieval marshal arts, costuming, armor making, leather work, carpentry, archery, heraldry, metalwork, vintning & brewing, cooking, dancing, calligraphy and manuscript illumination, needle crafts/works, music and much more. Feasts, tournaments, dances, guilds and classes are a few of the many activities offered and participated in.
The Barony of Caer Anterth Mawr is the local branch of the SCA based in the Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee, Racine, and Kenosha counties of Wisconsin. The Barony of Caer Anterth Mawr is located in the Kingdom of Northshield.
Our Motto is Certus sufficiens, which is latin for "surely there is enough".
The Barony of Caer Anterth Mawr [Welsh for "Great Tower of the Zenith"] hosts a variety of events during the year, and local mini-events called "moots" once a month, which consist of tournaments, games, classes and feasts. We also hold guild meetings, practices for archery, rapier, medieval combat, Curia meetings (aka officer meetings in which the populace are welcome to attend), and other fun activities throughout the week. Check our Calendar for dates, times and locations. SCA membership is not required to participate in any of these activities, just an interest, so please feel free to come out and join us. Our baronial newsletter, TheSong of the Tower, is now available online, and provides contact information, lists scheduled activities, and offers interesting articles and other fun stuff!
