Guild Charter
- To promote the study of all forms of needlework.
- To learn and pass on knowledge to others.
The purpose of the Needle Arts Guild of the Barony of Caer Anterth Mawr is to promote fellowship among those people interested in fiber-arts, embellishment and accouterments, and to encourage the education and development of period (600-1600 A.D.) style practices concerning the textile arts. This shall include a full complement of processes, including any crafter whose medium is embroidery, blackwork, crewel, lace making, quilting, smocking, hardanger, weaving, braiding, and applique, within the scope of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc.
The Guild shall hold regular meetings for the open and general exchange of information, lectures, classes, research, documentation, presentations and speakers. Participation in classes, workshops and demos will be encouraged, and it shall be emphasized that every expert was once a beginner.
Membership will be open to all those interested in fiber and needle arts. Participation is entirely optional, but for active membership, you need to be working on a project.
Active membership shall be maintained by contact with a guilf officer and current listing on the roster of the Needle Arts Guild.
The Guild will work on no less than one collaborative project per year. Project (s) will be discussed and voted on at Guild meetings. Collaboration on Guild projects is encouraged.
All documentation on projects will be archived by the Guild and available to members.
The Guild will be presided over by the Guild Leader who shall be responsible for the administrative details and will report quarterly to the Baronial Minister of Arts and Science. To aid in the day to day operation of the Guild, there will be additional principals, each designated to the specific offices of: Assistant to the Guild Leader with whom the Guild Leader will share the burden of administration. Those desiring to be officers shall state so in a letter of intent to be received by the Guild Leader by October of each year.
Election of officers will be held annually at the November meeting, by majority vote of those present. Vote by written proxy will be accepted if presented by a guild-member prior to voting. Charter revisions, if deemed necessary, shall be handled in a similar manner.
