PLEASE ...
For several reasons, it is very important that we have a close count of those planning to attend! (In fact, if you wish to sleep on site, in a building or in your own tent, pre-registration is required.)

Come and Be Welcome to Caer Anterth Mawr's Youth Event!

INFORMATION PROVIDED HERE IS STILL SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

This event will be putting our youth in the position of what we adults do and love to do in the SCA. They will compete for the Crown in a Capture the Flag style game with a Viking Ship and a Castle as home bases. They will hold Court and Feast. A Quest is being planned for those who just want to come and play and not participate in the Crown tourney. And there will be an after-Feast party for the Youth to really get the full experience. This is a weekend event, and because it is on a Boy Scouts campground, there are restrictions. So please see those posted on this web site, or contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns. Pre-registration will begin as soon as the forms are posted below in the next day or so (See Last Update date at the bottom of the page).

I am in need of volunteers to help it all run smoothly. Please contact the appropriate staff if you would like to take part, including the Event Steward to volunteer to take a main staff position.

Required Forms (Pre-Registration IS Mandatory; See Later Section.):

There is a medical history form that has to be filled out for each child in attendance, per the site rules.

Get the Medical Form Required For All Minors here.

The Pre-Reg Form will posted here when it is available.

Additional Fees For Some People (Add To Fees Below):

Saturday Lunch will be available for a separate fee, if you want it; of course, you may also bring your own.

The $5 NMS will apply to all adults who are not members. *** NMS must be collected for all non-discounted site fees collected.

As there is a discount for the children, the NMS will not apply to them at this event.

Cost:
  • $12 per adult
  • $8 per kid over 4
  • Children 4 and under are free.

Includes:
  • $2 per person energy fee

Mandatory Pre-Registration:

If you wish to sleep on site -- in the structures OR in tents -- THEN YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER. If you are not pre-registered, then you must sleep off-site.

Day trippers are welcome; however, they will have to have ALL the forms necessary filled out prior to the event, and Troll will close at noon day Saturday, so if not already registered or signed in before then, they won't be able to attend.

Sleeping Accommodations:

The site is a Boy Scout campground, so there are some restrictions on in-the-building sleeping that we think will work for parents and kids: men sleep in one room, women sleep in another room, girl children in another room, and boy children in another room. These restrictions apply only to the buildings -– they do not apply to people in tents. If parents wish to sleep at the event in the same space as their child/children, they will have to stay together in a tent.

A maximum of 150 people are allowed to sleep at the event, per site rules: 95 in the structures, 55 in tent camping.

In the castle, there are 32 youth sleeping accommodations and 21 adult sleeping accommodations. We will start with the castle first. IF the castle is sold out quickly and we still have more interest, than the Barony would rent the Viking ship and make it available as well.

Lunch Menu:

You can buy lunch on site! Here is the approximate menu:

Main dishes:
  • Sloppy Joes on a roll
  • Sliced ham on a roll (cheese available)
  • Peanut butter and jelly on bread (probably cut into fun shapes)
Sides:
  • misc whole fruit
  • grapes
  • cheese
  • fruit snacks
  • granola bars
  • chips
  • pickles
  • cookies (Fun shapes)
Beverages:
  • Milk
  • Juice boxes
  • Lemonade
  • Kool Aid
  • Bottled water
  • Possibly hot chocolate

More Site Rules:

A Parent/Guardian must accompany their child(ren) to the event. Because of the "1 Adult per 4 Children" required by the site, we encourage adults to attend, and for large families to help arrange for more adult attendance.

There is a lake on the premises; we can NOT use it.

The Boy Scouts' rule for others using their site (that's us) is that there must be 1 Adult per 4 Children; if you are bringing children, you are not personally respnsible for the overall ratio, but bringing along more adults always helps! (Being prepared for this need is another reason that we really need help in pre-registering as much as possible -- requiring it for sleeping in the buildings -- and advance notice even before pre-reg is possible. Thanks!)

The site is BONE DRY. Smoking is not allowed outside of designated smoking areas ... and they are not NEAR the structures.

Due to limited parking areas, those who are day tripping are strongly encouraged to carpool when possible.

Basic Planned Schedule, As It Stands Just Now (Subject To Alteration And Tweaking):

A "Canvas Play Area" for the tot squad will be available for parents to use. Children can not be left unattended in the area as THE EVENT WILL NOT PROVIDE AN ADULT specifically to supervise this area. (It is a set-aside area that may be used for tots, not a sponsored activity.)
