    Site Rules & Realities

Site Is In A Public Park
This event is being held in a public park, though we are using only part of the park, and our event area is off in a remote corner. There may be some non-SCA people who wander through the event. Please be kind and help them get to where they are trying to go.

On this page, the phrase "our event area" refers to the part of the park we have reserved for our camping and other SCA activities. ("Site" might be interpreted as either our event area or the park as a whole, so we have tried to be specific.)

    Map Of The Park
Map opens in new window or tab. Note that on that page, there is also a link to a (PDF) more detailed map of the whole park, which also includes an inset map of the area surrounding the park.

    Parking
No vehicles will be allowed to remain on our event area. Please unpack and move your vehicle to the parking lot as soon as you can to make room for others who need to unpack or pack. If the vehicle is on our event area too long, you will be asked to move it.

    Beverage Policy
Our event area is VERY discreetly wet. Please use your mug at all times, and beverage containers must be kept inside tents. If you would like further explanation about this please contact the autocrats.

    Service Animals vs. Pets
Service animals are permitted, but no pets are allowed at our event area. Menomonee Park does allow pets, but we are choosing to not have them at our event area for liability reasons. If any pets are brought to our event area, we will request that they be removed from site. We will have contact information for kennels available at the event check-in area, in case you should need it.

    Restrooms
We will have portable toilets and hand washing stations provided at our event area. There are flushies at the Beach House and non-flushy permanent restrooms about five minutes from our event area.

    Tick Alert
This park is known to have ticks. Please be aware of this, and take the appropriate precautions.

    Showers
Showers are available at the park's Beach House from 10am - 7pm. Note that the Beach house is not in our event area, but is available to the public, which also includes all SCA participants. No SCA-type showers, with dug pits, will be available.

    Water
Please be aware that there is no water available directly in our event area. There is water available in the park, but it is likely that you would want to drive to get it, since it is not within walking distance if you are carrying filled containers. Also note that the park's water is very sulfur-heavy well water; it is safe for human consumption, but not at all tasty, for most folks anyway. (Site water would be fine for putting out fires, watering grass from pits, or washing dishes, though.) Please ensure that you bring your own water, or containers so that you can fill them on site. For your convenience we will do a water run at 8am and 4pm on Saturday. A staff member will drive around and pick up water containers, that you have labeled with your name, and fill them up and return them to your campsite. (Remember to plan for Friday and Sunday, too, though.)

    Electricity
There isn't any our event area. But if you need plug in any medical devices, please contact the autocrats as we are renting a building during the day on Saturday that you could use then.

    Handicap Accessibility
Outside event with flat land. At least one wheelchair-accesible portable toilet will be available at our event area. There are not any electrical hookups for camping; electricity is available in the park, just not by the camping and our event area).

    Food At The Event
The topic of food is so important that it has its own page.

    Swimming
Swimming is available at the park's Beach House from 10am - 7pm. Modern swimming attire required. Lifeguards will be on duty daily. Note that the Beach house is not in our event area.

    Fishing
If you are a fan of fishing you can bring your pole for catch and release fishing, around the lake from the Beach House swimming area. (No fishing near the swimming area!) There is an accessable fishing pier, and from there you can catch trout, bass, bluegill, perch or crappies. Note that the lake and fishing area are not in our event area. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

    Fire Pits
No rings will be provided. You can dig a fire pit, but please keep the grass (and water it if needed), because you will be expected to clean out the pit and return the grass to it before you leave site. Always keep a pail of water or a fire extinguisher on hand when a fire is burning.
