Camp Alice Chester in E. Troy, WI. [ABSOLUTELY DRY SITE - NOT DISCREET, DRY! NO WEAPONS!]
N8651 Townline Rd,
East Troy, WI
Phone: (262) 642-7294
This is the SCA's first time at this camp, and they are renting it to us on a trial basis; please help us keep it by following their rules and ours, and by treating the site facilities well. Really, thanks! In particular... This is an ABSOLUTELY DRY site (not discreet, not "just in your car", DRY!). No weapons. No pets. We can have a fire, but only "cooking size" - no bonfires, nothing that remotely smacks of maybe setting the trees above us on fire; shouldn't be any problem, but they want us to know.
A site visit is scheduled for the future, so we'll know even more about the facilities and our use for each after that. Yay!
Please take a look at this before coming to site! It will be extremely useful if you know what to expect before coming in, and might let us help those of us who need or can really use a ride or two in camp. The relative locations of the buldings and parking areas will probably mean that we will want to cooperate in parking and help each other out. You should also allow time in your schedule for time to get from parking to other areas and back.
No Pre-registration -- Just one fee, all weekend long, so no extra cost for being here for everything!
In addition to the site fee below, adults who are not paid national members of the SCA must pay the $5 Non-Member Surcharge*.
Site Fee: $10 . . . Site Fee (17 years old & under): $5
Feast Fee: $10 . . . Feast Fee (5 years - 12 years old): $5 . . . Feast Fee (4 years old & under): contact feast stewards
*Link: Link: What Is the Non-Member Surcharge (NMS) And Why does it exist?
See Getting About Camp for locations.
* Friday will be casual. Of course we plan on lots of bardic, and hopefully ending by the fire outside till the last of us gets too sleepy. Dahrien will bring his BARDIC ANYTHING Deck for additional fun & games. No formal dinner plans, so look out for yourself, or maybe some will call out for pizza (local place delivers from just 7 minutes away), or do something else.
4:30pm - Site opens to populace; Come to the Lodge. If you show early, we're even more likely to ask you to work with us :-) .
10:00pm - Lodge has to close; look for us at the fire scar behind Sunset Prairie; pray there's no rain. If it is raining, look for us *in* Sunset Prairie.
Uber-Late - If you are arriving late at night and there's nobody up still singing, etc., just drive in to Sunset Prairie and if there's an open bunk in the back half, you can just grab it for yourself. If you need to, phone Dahrien's cell at 414 - 467 - 1335. I'll get up and square you away.
* Their Most Royal And Super-Duper Majesties are considering Their schedule for the day in light of circumstances beyond Their control and pleasure. Their Royal Court will be held earlier in the day, and The Royal Challenge with selection of Their bardic champion will be moved to an earlier Fyt. The rest of the schedule below will be shifted to compensate.
9AM - Lodge opens to the populace (might be a bit earlier; just don't count on it yet.); bardic circle and practice welcome.
10AM-12PM - Fyt 1, followed by Royal Court at noon or a little before
.............................. 11:30AM-1:30PM - Lunch (other actvities are not stopping)
12PM-1PM - Class period I
1PM-3PM - Fyt 2
3PM-4PM - Class period II
4PM-6PM - Fyt 3
6PM - Fyt 4/Feast (Bardic Madness' final Fyt always happens at Feast.)
After feast - Postrevel/night-time bardic circle/finish up any challenge responses that didn't get done earlier.
10PM - Lodge closes; move bardic to the fire scar behind Sunset Prairie; pray there's no rain. If it is raining, we'll improvise with one of the bunkhouses. Sunset Prairie is right there. Chapparal is the further-away one, but has the biggest open space.
Not just another bit of cooking, not a boring lecture hall, but the chance to learn more about real aspects of the Middle Ages through doing, in persona!
Frank's Piggly Wiggly grocery store is at 3238 Main St, East Troy, WI 53120 -- 5 minutes from site's entrance. Their phone number is (262) 642-5524. And they're open 6:00 am – 10:30 pm all week long.
Check out the Feast & Food page for information about the restaurants & fast food that Dahrien scoped out.
There are also a few banks with ATMs, and a few gas stations, and even auto parts stores and a car dealership, at and just southwest of the intersection of North St. and Main St. [Main St. runs NE/SW.] .
